✔ Starter: Chapter 1 and 2 Vocabulary (1 - 10)
a. Students shall expand a reading vocabulary by
 identifying and correctly using idioms and words with literal and
 figurative meanings. Figurative language—simile, metaphor, hyperbole and
 imagery. Students shall read and understand works of
 literature; analyze the use of literary elements by an author, including
 characterization, setting, plot, theme, point of view, tone and style;
 analyze the effect of various literary devices.

 a. Students will analyze text features and elements to support inferences and generalizations about information. b. Evaluate the credibility of information sources, including how the writer’s motivation  may affect that credibility
